Spektre are back on their record label Respekt with their second release on the imprint in the space of a month, and it features two exhilarating techno tracks.
Based in the UK, Spektre are a duo that for over a decade, have been at the forefront of the global techno scene. Not only have they established themselves as talented producers, but they are also excellent DJs who have played mainstage sets across the globe.
Rich Wakley and Paul Maddox were both successful producers before teaming up to start their Spektre alias, and their combined efforts have seen them release Spektre tracks on labels such as 1605, Filth on Acid and Kraftek.
“Stop Me From Falling” is the release’s title track, and it opens the EP with flickering top-end percussion and a slamming kick drum. Its rumbling bassline and acid synth are combined with sensual vocals to form the core of the track, and it has all the ingredients to become an instant classic.
“Nine Lives” is the second track, and it has a playful style with hardcore style vocals and old-school breakbeats cutting between sections of hard-hitting percussion and powerful synths. The intricate melody transforms layers nicely with a hulking synth line to create a rollercoaster ride that twists and turns with growing suspense.
