Sweet Music RecommendsTo those in the know, US producer Beartrax has long been considered a dab hand when it comes to releasing thrilling deep house. Indeed, his Melodize label continues to grow in stature, with this latest one – coming complete with a remix by UK producer Carl Finlow – indicative of a label that’s most definitely moving in the right direction.
Indeed, if you’re a fan of deep house that’s genuinely captivating and designed to force you up out of your chair, Beartrax’s unique approach to his work is sure to be the kind of music you’ll appreciate. The rich quality of his latest, the fantastic Dream Riff EP, serves up a case in point. Adventurous deep house of the sort that’s not afraid to do something different, the driving, piano-laden textures of the title track are imbued with a strain of quality and wonder throughout. A track I’ll be returning to a lot over the next while. As expected, Carl Finlow doesn’t let the side down, with his electro heavy remix of the original serving up quite the compliment.
The second of Beartrax’s original cuts here is Repentance, another track that’s full of emotion and wears its heart on its sleeve. Deep, atmospheric and again cut with some beautiful piano notes, this banger is deserving of a dancefloor, that’s for sure. All things considered, this is a killer EP from a producer we’d do well to watch out for over the next while.
