How has your summer been so far? Have you started DJing again yet?
My summer has been going straight locked in at the studio lol. I received some requests but at the moment I prefer to make streaming sets to wait for better times.
Introduce yourself, give us some background on how you got to where you are today
So, I’m an Italian dj producer from Rome and my real name is Francesco. My style in DJ sets was always surrounded with electronic sound, and that is how I was eventually tagged with the nickname “Electrofanatik”. After a few years of doing gigs I started to feel the need to create a personal sound, so I began to produce and express my creativity in the current underground style. My productions immediately reached the top 10 charts, and they were appreciated and played by international renowed artists Like: Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Pan-Pot, Chrisl Liebing, Sam Paganini, Umek, Alan Fitzpatrick, Deep Dish, Amelie Lens and many more. In 2013 I started my own label Gain Records and I released also on top labels like Suara, Intec, Phobiq, Off, Yoshitoshi, OFF, Analytictrail, Codex, Jam and more.
What is the scene in Rome like? What parties are big, what clubs are essential?
The club scene in Rome was going nice, we have from the small parties to the big disco and festivals like Spazio 900, Soundscape, Timeless Festival and more.
Does being from Italy mean you have a certain style, certain sounds that makes your music different to that of say someone from Germany or the US?
I think is not related to the nationality but is related to the personal style, and generally “italians do it better” anyway lol
Do you make tunes to play in your own DJ sets, are the two related like that?
Absolutely yes! I play all my tracks and upcoming tracks on all my sets, and radio shows!
Has it been weird making music with no club feedback, no DJ experiences?
Yes a little, because the real feedback is the crowd on the dance floor!
Tell us about the new one for CODEX – how did you how up, how did it come about?
My buddy Spartaque asked me for new tracks to release on his Codex label, and I worked on new tracks and we decided to release the single and I assigned one of the big techno duo Loco & Jam for their remix!
The release was named “Osiris” as I was inspired by the Egyptian Myth God “ siris”. The melody in the drop reminds me the secrets and mystery behind the Egyptian Era and Mythology.
I’ve joined my idea of peak time mainstream techno with sound design works on the main arp synths and analogue sounds.
What are you working on next?
I’m working on my full album and coming up are new releases on Analytictrail, Unrilis, OFF, Say What and my label Gain Records. My remix for David Dega and some releases are in collaboration with Dino Maggiorana and Stiv Hey.
