Rising name in the world of electronic music, Kid Bamboo has certainly turned heads within the scene and beyond. Hot off the back of a brand new release out on My other Side Of The Moon, with Enoo Napa putting a great touch on his record, he discusses what’s happening in his world, what things he’s been getting involved with and what his future outlook is for various ongoing projects.
How are you, what’s good and bad in your world?
I’m grateful. Traveling and sharing my music with the world is one of the best parts of my life.
How did you get into dance music in Greece – is there a good scene?
It all started when I got my first residency as a Dj in Mykonos Island. That changed my perspective about dance music a lot and introduced me into the world of house and electronic music. The dance music scene in Greece is pretty decent. After all, we are a country that loves to party.
What is it like now, are you part of a community of creatives or do you operate alone?
It has been a crazy ride, especially the last year. Many things can change very fast in the music world. For me many things changed when I moved to Mexico. This move helped me a lot to emerge as an artist and as a producer. Sometimes it’s not easy to leave your comfort zone. But with a lot of work, love for music and a bit of luck everything is possible. I always had my people who believed in me and supported me in every step. And I’m more than grateful to them.
What inspired your new one on my other side of the moon?
I have been working on this project for the last year and I really wanted to do something special. My main inspiration comes from traveling.
Your latest release was remixed by Enoo Napa – what do you make of it? what’s it like hearing others add their own spin to your work?
When they told me that Enoo Napa agreed to do a remix on “Carousel” I got really excited. Being able to collaborate with one of the top afro house artists at the moment is really something else.
How did you hook up with My other Side Of The Moon – did you make the tune with that label specifically in mind?
I have been following My Other Side Of The Moon for some time. They do amazing work and they have lots of quality in their releases. It was a perfect fit for my EP because they can combine organic house with afro-tribal house. And my EP “Carousel” is exactly that.
How do you evolved your own sound while staying true to your roots and own signature and not jumping on new hype
By Staying true to myself, doing what makes me happy , being patient and focusing on my own path. Trust the process.
Where is your best environment as a dj? a small dark club or a huge outdoor festival stage? late at night for the weirdos or early so you can play slow and eclectic etc etc?
With my feet on the sand , next to the sea playing some eclectic tunes for weirdos just before the sunrise comes. That would be ideal , but at the end of the day it’s all about the people and the connection.
What else have you got coming up/are you working on?
More music Is coming out soon as I’ve already started working on my new Ep and some new tribal Edits and Remixes.
