Hey Jimmy, welcome to Sweet Music! How are you, what’s good and bad in your world?
Hey guys ! Thank you Nice to meet you ! what’s good right now is my 7 month old spaniel is finally feeling better after a stomach bug and what’s bad is she’s now tearing up the apartment again !
How have you found the return to partying and DJing?
The return is slowly building up again it’s so nice to see people out again that want to connect with music !
How much did the pandemic and lockdown affect the mood of the music you made, played, listened to?
The pandemic made me want to listen to more positive uplifting music overall ! And is continuing to do !
Where does the impulse to create something come from for you? What role do sources of inspiration like dreams, other forms of art, personal relationships, politics etc play?
The impulse comes from the love of music from a young age and building an early connection .. the spark and the urge to create can always come up at any time! Music is a universal language that draws people together, my concept of naming some of my original tracks as rivers symbolises how major cities get connected to one another .. this is an example of my love of the creative process combining sounds from a simple idea to a fully fledged song .. I also love photography and art and regularly go to burning man and DJ there which is a huge source of inspiration for my music !
Tell us about your new remix of DJ Istar’s ‘Outta Space’. How did you link up for that?
The record label approached me to do a remix after Sam divine played my track Amasonica on her defected radio show and got listed on the defected playlists which was awesome so I was very happy to get involved with this project.
What was the aim and vibe of the tune? Did you have a specific situation in mind of where you’d like this track to be heard?
With such a magical sounding hook the aim was to not get in the way of that and make sure the listener could enjoy the Herbie Hancock sound but still maintaining a steady dance floor filler with any luck.
What are some of the key bits of music making gear in your current set up?
I love the 909 sounds along with the SH101 for bass and a few other hardware keyboards .. I work with logic and mix in a well calibrated room with a decent monitoring system and apogee converters
What else have you got coming up/are you working on?
I’ve got some bangers lined up for early 2022 release which I can’t wait for you to hear including an old school classic
What hopes and dreams do you have for 2022?
Hopes and dreams for 2022 is to release on defected, toolroom trax or nervous records and for David penn to play one of my tracks !! That would be mega
Are you concerned with your environmental impact as a DJ, and what can you do about it if so?
I’m in the process of moving to an electric car which will help to minimise the carbon footprint as well as electric buses. .. also eating meat only at the weekends ! Mainly a bacon sandwich ! .. thanks guys wish you all a merry Xmas x
